What's included in the price?
For 1:1 sessions: the session itself, all materials (oil, candles, sheet, etc.), the intake conversation and the closing conversation. Most practitioners do not charge extra for a free 15-minute introductory phone call.
For workshops: facilitation, venue, all materials. Lunch may or may not be included depending on the event — check before booking.
For residential retreats: accommodation, all meals, facilitation, materials. Travel to the venue is on you. Optional excursions or extras (massage, additional 1:1 sessions during the retreat) are usually charged separately.
What about gift vouchers / packages?
Many practitioners offer multi-session packages at a discount — typically 5-10% off for three sessions, 10-15% for six. If you're going to do this work seriously, packages can make sense; if you're still deciding whether tantra suits you, a single session is the right starting point.
What about gender, age or relationship pricing?
Most Irish practitioners charge a flat rate regardless of client demographics. A few practitioners offer concessions (student, low-income, recently bereaved) on request — Leonie at Tantra from the Heart and several others have published these in the past. Don't assume; ask in your intake call.
Why isn't it cheaper?
Three reasons. First, the sessions are long — 1.5 to 2.5 hours of practitioner time per booking. Second, the training is expensive — most Irish practitioners have spent €5,000-€15,000 and 1-3 years on their own training before they could legitimately offer this work. Third, the practice is energetically demanding; most ethical practitioners cap themselves at 2-3 client sessions per day. The hourly rate is in line with other deeply-trained bodywork modalities (osteopathy, craniosacral work, advanced massage therapy).
Why is some of it cheaper?
Anyone charging significantly below the figures above without a clear reason is worth questioning — same as you would with any professional bodyworker. Possible legitimate reasons: a practitioner is newer to the work and explicitly pricing accordingly, the session is shorter than the standard 90-minute floor, the format is online rather than in-person, or there's a community-rate / sliding-scale policy stated openly. If none of those apply, ask.
How to pay
Bank transfer or Revolut to the practitioner directly is the most common in Ireland. Some accept card on the day (Square, SumUp), some cash. Deposits — typically 25-50% — are standard for workshop and retreat bookings; some 1:1 practitioners also require a deposit, particularly for first-time clients. The deposit policy should be visible on the practitioner's site.
